The ClimateCalc Certificate

Graafinen Teollisuus has awarded the ClimateCalc certificate to Pohjolan Palvelut Oy. The certificate covers the company's carbon footprint calculation, which is based on the ClimateCalc calculator.

This calculator meets the rigorous requirements of ISO 14064 and ISO 16759 standards. The certificate covers sales, digital printing, finishing processes, and deliveries to customers.

HiiliPlus+ Climate Units in Kemijärvi

Pohjolan Palvelut Oy has advanced its responsibility work by redeeming HiiliPlus+ climate units targeting the company's 2023 emissions. These units have been produced in Finland in projects that increase forest carbon sequestration capacity and advance Finland's 2035 carbon neutrality goal.

The project sites are in Kemijärvi in Lapland, and they focus on spruce-dominated commercial forests. The HiiliPlus+ carbon sink projects comply with ISO 14064-2 standards and have been audited by the independent body DNV GL.

Responsible Printing

Our print house operates in an environmentally responsible manner, and our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of printed products throughout the entire product lifecycle. We use only proven and tested product qualities in our processes.

As printing technology has developed, environmentally harmful chemicals have been replaced with less impactful alternatives. All the papers we use are environmentally certified, the inks are environmentally approved, and the packaging materials used for products are approved by environmental authorities.

Our investment in the latest production technology has further improved our quality while also reducing energy consumption.

We also aim to reduce energy consumption in our work environment by maintaining the comfort and cleanliness of our premises. We also encourage and develop our employees' knowledge of environmental and occupational wellbeing matters.

Environmentally Friendly Printing from Pohjolan Palvelut Oy

Our machine, equipment, and paper suppliers all meet strict environmental requirements. The inks used in our digital printing press are food-grade approved.

Printing Presses

Our production machines are Energy Star certified. They consume very little energy compared to older models, up to 50% less. The printing inks used meet EU food packaging regulations and FDA regulations.

Paper

Our printing papers come from suppliers whose products cover the entire papermaking process, from forest management to actual production. All our suppliers must have:

  • ISO 14001 or Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) or another recognised industry certificate
  • Raw materials from sustainably managed forests (FSC, PEFC, CSA or SFI)
